So I have reached out to Google to see if this is really a thing...

I was washing an Acura (gonna leave the model and year out, just in case) and I had to move the wipers out of the way. To my surprise they moved rather freely throughout their range with only a little effort.

Then things got weird.

The freaking doors unlocked!

I repeated this several times and every time, BINGO - unlocked doors!!!

Is this just a glitch or have others experienced this?

Well, you can unlock an old Civic with a fucking dildo/banana/wrong key.

I'm guessing Acura has DUN FUCKED UP.

So now we can steal Acuras?

Even though there's only (imo) 2 worth having, 1 of which is a unicorn.

That's some really fucked up wiring... New or old?

a little older but definitely not "old". It's not like a Legend or anything. New enough to make such a wiring glitch "believable", but old enough to be surprised that I can't find anything about it on the internet

If it's an o1-03 CL/TL then I am concern.

i'll put it this way - you're very warm. i would very interested to see if this worked for others as well, but i really am a bit weary about just announcing it.

Both are unicorns. A sexy mid-engined unicorn and an oft-stolen unicorn.

they're connected so that if you move one, they both move. I don't mean picking them up off of the glass, I mean actually moving them so they "wipe" the window.

Tried it again this morning just to see. Wipe - click. Welcome to your unlocked car!

Seriously, try it and let me know if it works! I don't really know anybody else well enough who has one. I mean, I don't want to go to a co-worker and say "hey, can I break into your car real quick?"

I think one of my coworkers has the particular model you are not naming. At lunch, I'm going to go check.

If it works for you let me know! I was honestly surprised that the wipers moved throughout their range without the car on. Well, they moved from "down" to "up" - I had to start the car to get them back down. After I figured it out and went to replicate it, I first pulled on the drivers side one. It didn't immediately want to move so I pulled on the passenger and that one did it.

This may not be new info to you, but there's a single (I think) motor that turns around and moves bars (2) that are connected each to the base of their respective wiper. My guess is that the two bars going from the single motor to each wiper are staggered. That's why if moving one doesn't work, moving the other should.

Of course, this does absolutely nothing to explain why in the hell it unlocks the doors unless this is somehow some sort of repair shop secret for easily getting into a locked car.
